Trang Province

The southern city of Trang, though not a “tourist town”, warmly welcomes visitors—including those traveling to or from the Pansand Resort. Known as the “cleanest city in Thailand”, Trang is 110 kilometers (about 68 miles) north of Pakbara pier.

Nok Air, Air Asia and Lion Air fly Donmeung International Airport, bangkok into Trang, and trains and air conditioned buses connect with Bangkok. For information on minibus transportation from Trang directly to Pakbara pier (to catch the ferry to Koh Bulon-Lae), see TRAVEL TO AND FROM THE ISLAND. The route between Trang and Pakbara passes through beautiful terrain, rubber tree plantations and isolated mountain peaks.

Located in Trang is the office of the Pansand, which can arrange minibus travel to Pakbara. At the office, located at 84 Visetkul Road, across from the Queen Hotel, internet service is available, as is a fax machine. If you have questions, or would like to say “hello”, stop in the office; we’ll try to provide any assistance you might need.

The friendly people of Trang offer plenty of great dining options—“dim sum”, Chinese, Thai, barbequed seafood, late night Thai coffee or tea by the Clock Tower. Fine and affordable hotels (such as the Thumrin Thana) and fun shopping opportunities add to the appeal of this city.

Whether walking or taking “tuk-tuks” or motorcycles, visitors enjoy Trang’s day and night markets, city parks or the bookstore stocked with a shelf of English and German titles. The Pansand office can refer guests to tailors, hair stylists, traditional Thai massage practitioners, medical assistance or sports activities.

When private group tours have been arranged in advance, they can be met at the Trang airport.
